Lyon Air Museum is built within a renovated hangar space from the 1970s and showcases authentic aircraft, rare vehicles and related memorabilia-with an emphasis on the defining event of the 20th century – World War II.

Founded by Maj. Gen. William Lyon (USAF, ret.), the 30,000-sq.ft.museum boasts many artifacts from his private collection, such as the Boeing B-17 Flying Fortress “Fuddy Duddy” and the DC-3 “Flagship Orange County.” Also on display is an original 1939 Mercedes-Benz Model G4 Offener Touring Wagon, used by Adolph Hitler in Germany and Poland until seized by the French Army at the war’s end.

Gen. Lyon was Chief of the U.S. Air Force Reserve from 1975 to 1979, served in Europe, the Pacific and North Africa during World War II and later flew combat missions in Korea.

The Lyon Air Museum museum is open daily from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and is free for school groups. Regular admission is $8.00; discounted admission is available for seniors, veterans and children.
